Brain Injury Program
Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI) is an injury to the brain that is caused by an external physical force, such as a car accident, fall, sports or workplace injuries, etc. It can result in an impairment of physical, cognitive, behavioral, and/or emotional capabilities.
Acquired Brain Injury (ABI) is an injury to the brain that is caused by internal trauma to the brain, such as tumors, blood clots, seizures, infections, etc. It can result in an impairment of physical, cognitive, behavioral, and/or emotional capabilities.
Brain Injuries, regardless of the type, can significantly alter a person’s world as well as their relationships with family and friends. It may require adapting to a new reality unlike anything you have known before, which can cause feelings of great anxiety and frustration. At Adventist Rehab, we offer a unique approach to treating our brain injured patients that relies heavily on establishing a recuperative environment to best support getting them back to life.
An Interdisciplinary Team Approach
Rehabilitation following a brain injury is very complex because of the need to address multiple areas of deficit, including physical impairments, functional deficiencies (such as difficulty walking or dressing), behavioral difficulties, emotional consequences and social or interpersonal limitations. Often, significant cognitive deficits, such as limited attention span or poor memory, underlie and exacerbate these problems. Patients in our Brain Injury Program receive intensive, integrated rehabilitation designed to maximize their recovery.
Brain Injury Team Highlights
- There are 20+ Certified Brain Injury Specialists (CBIS) on staff.
