Peer Visitor Program

Many patients who arrive at Adventist Rehab go through so many emotions and transitions during their stay with us. It is hard to imagine your future after suffering an injury to your body that makes it necessary for you to become one of our patients. While most of our patients are resilient and goal-oriented by the time they are discharged, many start out feeling depressed, scared and uncertain about their new state of being.

For these reasons, Adventist Rehab has developed a peer visitor program for all of our specialties. We actively encourage our past patients to come back to the hospital and act as a separate support system for those current patients suffering from the same diagnoses or injuries. Our goal is to match a peer visitor with a patient currently going through the process of getting back to life at our hospital. This match occurs on many levels: age, diagnosis, lifestyle, personality, etc. We believe that our patients who participate in the peer visitor program find a true companion as opposed to a therapist, a doctor, or a psychiatrist.
